Advocate Health committed to carbon neutrality (offsetting emissions) by 2025, and net zero (producing no carbon) by 2050 and has taken some pragmatic steps. “The most efficient thing we can do is to not build more but to use our existing space better,” said Collin Lane. One facility achieved an $8m per year saving on utilities alone, mostly by investing in electrification. Advocate’s goal is to drive cost down and create affordability for the patients and simply “do the right thing.”
