About this session
This session highlights the role of MRI and PET in the diagnostic evaluation of Alzheimer’s disease, covering MRI protocols, characteristic imaging findings, and volumetric analysis for diagnosis and disease monitoring. It also reviews amyloid and tau PET imaging, quantitative assessment methods, and the use of structured reporting and standardized scoring to support clinical decision-making.
The role of MRI
- This talk highlights the pivotal role of MRI in the diagnostic evaluation of Alzheimer’s disease and its subtypes. Participants will learn about the essential sequences for a dementia MRI protocol, characteristic imaging findings, and the role of volumetric analysis in initial diagnosis and disease progression.
The role of PET
- This session will provide a detailed look at PET imaging in Alzheimer's disease, including available tracers for amyloid and tau, interpretation of imaging patterns, and the use of Centiloid scoring for quantitative assessment.
How to report in Alzheimer's disease?
- What does the neurologist need to know? This session focuses on structured reporting in Alzheimer’s imaging. Participants will learn how standardized scores and classifications support clinical decision-making and will see their application through clinical cases.
